The Patelco Credit Union is a community credit union that encompasses most of Northern California, particularly the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded in 1936, it is one of the oldest and largest credit unions in the country. With more than $3 billion in assets[1], it is the 20th largest credit union in the country.[2]

History

The Patelco Credit Union, once served an organization formally known as Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company. However, in 1983 they opened its doors to the public and now operates approximately 40 branches in Northern California and one in the Chicago area. It provides services in the form of deposits, lending, and insurance and more recently has diversified to offer investment banking.
